On 22nd July 2025, the Bingin community gathered for a pivotal court session to challenge the ongoing Bingin demolition process. The session focused on reviewing the legal grounds for the complaint and ensuring that all necessary formalities were in place for the lawsuit against the government’s demolition order. Around 38 residents attended, along with volunteer lawyers assisting the case.
On July 21, 2025, the cliffside of Bingin Beach was demolished by the sound of breaking as government authorities began a widespread demolition of local businesses. I’m Jason, a Business Journalist at Bukit Vista, I’ll be reporting on the Bingin Demolition‘s latest update from Bali Business Review.
Legal Setback for Bingin Demolition Challenge

During the court session according to Alex Barung, it was revealed that the legal foundation for halting the Bingin demolition was insufficient. The main issue was the government’s decree (SK), which authorized the demolition. The SK was signed by the Governor of Bali and followed by an execution notice from the Badung Regency Government on 16th July 2025. However, the decree was not considered final by the court, thus preventing the complaint from proceeding further.
Issues with Government Decree in Bingin Demolition
The lawyers representing the Bingin residents pointed out that the SK was not finalized, and the affected parties had not received proper documentation. This lack of transparency and distribution of the SK was a major obstacle in the legal proceedings. As a result, the court determined that the complaint, based on an incomplete SK, was not strong enough to advance.
Bingin Community Pushes for Delay in Demolition
Despite the setback, the legal team expressed their intention to continue challenging the Bingin demolition. They plan to await the final version of the SK and submit further objections to the State Administrative Court within 10 days, seeking a delay in the demolition process. The Bingin residents remain hopeful for a resolution that could halt or delay the demolition of their properties.
Call for Understanding Amidst Legal Struggles

At the conclusion of the session, the legal team urged the court and the Bingin community to understand the challenges faced in preparing the case. They emphasized that despite the setbacks, they would continue to fight for the rights of the Bingin residents and seek a fair resolution to the demolition issue.
As the Bingin demolition progresses, the local community remains in limbo, hoping that the legal process can provide clarity and protect their homes from the ongoing demolition plans.
