We maintain this Bali tourism statistics 2026 hub so villa owners, investors and hospitality teams can check the latest official data without confusing island-wide tourism indicators with the performance of one property. Our source of record is BPS Statistics Bali Province.
Data status: the latest BPS Bali tourism release we checked on 11 August 2026 covers May 2026 and was published on 1 July 2026. We will update this page when a newer official monthly release is available.
Bali tourism statistics 2026: the direct answer
Bali recorded 578,251 direct foreign visitor arrivals in May 2026, 4.50% more than April 2026. BPS also reported a 61.16% room occupancy rate for star-rated hotels and 37.20% for non-star hotels and other accommodation in May.
These three figures describe different things. Arrivals count direct international visits to Bali, while the occupancy rates are BPS accommodation series. They do not represent the occupancy, nightly rate or revenue of a private villa in Canggu, Ubud, Uluwatu, Seminyak, Sanur, Jimbaran or another Bali location.

Monthly Bali tourism data for January–May 2026
The table below keeps each monthly series in its official unit. We show percentages as reported by BPS and use “percentage points” when comparing occupancy rates.
| Month | Direct foreign arrivals | Star-hotel TPK | Non-star/other TPK | Official release |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | 502,205 | 56.67% | 32.70% | BPS Bali |
| February | 492,289 | 55.44% | 33.00% | BPS Bali |
| March | 472,070 | 52.54% | 33.32% | BPS Bali |
| April | 553,328 | 57.94% | 34.81% | BPS Bali |
| May | 578,251 | 61.16% | 37.20% | BPS Bali |
Adding the five monthly arrival counts gives 2,598,143 direct foreign arrivals from January through May 2026. This is simple arithmetic from the official monthly values, not a Bukit Vista forecast.
How to read these Bali tourism indicators
Direct foreign visitor arrivals
This series counts direct international arrival events recorded for Bali. It is not a count of unique people: a repeat visitor may appear more than once. It also excludes domestic tourist trips and does not measure length of stay, accommodation choice, villa bookings or visitor spending.
Hotel room occupancy rate (TPK)
BPS uses Tingkat Penghunian Kamar (TPK) for room occupancy. The star-rated hotel and non-star/other accommodation series are separate. Neither series should be relabelled as “Bali villa occupancy” or applied directly to a specific holiday rental.
Month-on-month and year-on-year change
- Month on month compares one month with the immediately preceding month. It can be affected by seasonality and the number of days in each month.
- Year on year compares the same month in different years. It is often more useful for seasonal markets, but one comparison still does not establish a long-term trend.
- Percentage points are the correct way to describe the difference between two occupancy rates.
What the latest data means for Bali villa owners
The May release shows that direct foreign arrivals and both accommodation occupancy series moved higher than in April. That is useful market context, but it does not prove that every Bali villa experienced the same movement.
When we discuss a property with an owner, we treat official island-wide data as one layer of context. A realistic property review also needs the villa’s location, available nights, room count, facilities, guest fit, listing quality, booking history and competitive set. Demand can differ materially between Canggu, Ubud, Uluwatu, Seminyak, Sanur, Jimbaran and other micro-markets.
For that reason, we do not use a tourism-arrival total as a promise of occupancy, revenue, yield or return on investment. We use clear property inputs and discuss the assumptions behind any commercial proposal.
How Bukit Vista can help property owners act on the data
Tourism statistics are most useful when they lead to better property decisions. Bukit Vista supports owners through Bali villa management and marketing options described on our current public pages. Depending on the agreed package and property, our team can help with guest communication, property presentation, distribution and operational support.
- We start with the property and the owner’s goals, not an island-wide average.
- We explain which information comes from an official source and which inputs are specific to the villa.
- We put the selected service scope and commercial terms in the written proposal.
- We encourage owners to review performance against their own availability, bookings and costs.
If you want to understand how the latest Bali demand context relates to your villa, talk with our property management team. We can discuss the property, location and suitable next steps without treating these statistics as a guaranteed result.
