The recent engagements between Bukit Vista and various departments at UGM signify a groundbreaking approach to integrating academic insight with industry expertise. From psychology and mathematics to tourism and property management, these partnerships are tailored to address the evolving needs of the hospitality sector, leveraging UGM’s academic excellence and Bukit Vista’s innovative business strategies. Here are some of the great people & team he met:

Psychology Studies of UGM

On Monday, January 29th, Bukit Vista’s representatives engaged with the Psychology Department at UGM. Bukit Vista met Ardian Rahman Afandi, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psikolog as one of the lecturers in the Psychology Department of UGM. The discussion highlighted the positive aspects of the collaboration, including the commendable company culture and environment. However, the team also addressed areas of improvement, focusing on job scope expansion and refining job descriptions.

Tuesday, January 30th,  Bukit Vista engaging with the UGM Creative Sub-Directorial. The focus of this meeting was to explore collaborations with various student clubs such as Design, Business, Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Engineering. In the course of the meeting, Mr. Jing exuded palpable excitement as he observed the impressive array of accomplishments showcased by UGM within this specific sub-directorate. The sense of enthusiasm and pride emanating from Mr. Jing underscored the notable impact and success that UGM has achieved in its endeavors.

Mathematics Department of UGM

A surprising yet fruitful meeting occurred with the Mathematics Department of UGM. The discussion unveiled opportunities for collaboration, including guest lectures, research collaboration, and sponsorship of clubs. In line with the positive outcomes of the meeting, there is a mutual interest in renewing the collaboration Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The renewal would not only encompass the existing areas of cooperation but also extend to include guest lectures and joint research initiatives. This reflects a commitment to sustaining and expanding the fruitful partnership between the two institutions. Notably, there was enthusiasm about sponsoring graduate programs in research.

Tourism Bachelor Program of UGM

On Wednesday, January 31st, discussions with Dr. Wiwik Sushartami, M.A, the head of the Tourism Bachelor Program of UGM, focused on potential speaking opportunities and class teachings. Planning for the right curriculum tailored to Bukit Vista’s expertise in property management, revenue management, and business strategy was explored.
 
In the upcoming semester, there is an exciting opportunity to organize a Guest Lecture in collaboration with the Tourism Bachelor Program at UGM. The discussion has been concluded, centering on the prospect of hosting a guest lecture that aligns seamlessly with Ibu Wiwik’s class. The proposed topics for the lecture encompass a diverse range, offering valuable insights for the students:
    1. On the Entrepreneurship topic, the Guest Lecture possibilities are delving into the intricacies of initiating a personal tourism business anywhere in Indonesia. This session aims to equip students with the practical knowledge and skills required to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape within the tourism industry.
    2. The Guest Lecture will explore Online Marketing strategies, emphasizing methods to garner global attention without relying on conventional social media platforms. This segment aims to broaden students’ perspectives on digital outreach and marketing in the tourism sector.
    3. On the Leadership in Hospitality topic, Bukit Vista will provide valuable guidance on accelerating career progression in the field and ascending to managerial roles swiftly. The envisioned Guest Lecture promises to be an enriching experience, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications for the benefit of the students.

Tour & Travel Studies of UGM

The collaboration between Tour & Travel UGM and Bukit Vista, established in 2019, was reaffirmed. Challenges in the hospitality field were discussed, with an emphasis on enhancing the spirit of hospitality in the new era through communication and guest services. In this meeting, Mr Jing met Handayani Rahayuningsih, S.S., M.Sc.as one of the lecturer in Tour & Travel Studies of UGM and discussing several guest lecture possibilities, also leveraging the hospitality attitude in students.
 
In a recent discussion between the Tour & Travel Department of UGM, the key focus was on fostering some educational partnerships. The dialogue centered around establishing a collaborative alliance that would bring mutual benefits to both entities. Mr. Jing expressed keen interest in leveraging the expertise of UGM to enhance the educational components of Bukit Vista’s operations.
 
The envisioned partnership aims to create a symbiotic relationship where UGM provides valuable insights, research, and educational resources, while Bukit Vista offers practical industry exposure and opportunities for UGM students. On Thursday, February 1st, potential collaborations with the Computer Science and Electronics department were explored. Possibilities included sponsorship, project-based recruitment, internships, and casual hiring for employees and interns. In this meeting, Mr Jing met several great people:

During the meet, Bayu and Vidi from BukitVista took the opportunity to present the automation implementation initiatives within the company, showcasing the transformative projects known as GAIA and ATLAS. These implementations mark a significant step towards enhancing efficiency and streamlining processes at BukitVista. Additionally, it was mentioned that plans are underway to organize a dinner event, yet to be confirmed. This prospective gathering reflects the collaborative spirit and camaraderie within the team, promising a shared moment of relaxation and connection outside the formal meeting setting.

Property Management & Valuation of UGM

The meeting with the Property Management study program on February 1st focused on potential collaborations, including guest lectures, internships, and project-based work. On this behalf, Mr Jing has a great chance to meet Yudistira Hendra Permana, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D., as lecturer in Property Management & Valuation of UGM  and the whole Department of Economics and Business of UGM. This meeting’s emphasis was on producing talent aligned with Bukit Vista’s community management needs.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) of UGM

A refined discussion with the MBA UGM on February 1st with Rocky Adiguna, SE., M. Sc., Ph.D. explored long-term collaboration opportunities. With a keen alignment between the academic focus of the MBA program and the core departments at Bukit Vista, a noteworthy parallel emerges. The program’s six Finfocus points, encompassing Marketing, Operations, Strategic Management, HR, Entrepreneurship, and Finance, directly mirror the key domains within Bukit Vista. 

Recognizing the synergies between academia and industry, Rocky and Mr. Jing found common ground in their agreement that the program’s two-month immersion initiative would be highly beneficial for participants. This accord underscores the practical relevance and applicability of the program to the real-world scenarios encountered within Bukit Vista, providing a valuable bridge between theoretical learning and hands-on experience.

Team of Center for Digital Society (CfDS) of the Faculty of Political and Social Studies of UGM

The meeting with CfDS proved highly productive and beneficial, featuring discussions with key members including Tian, Alisa, Gaby, Restu, and Ayu. Described as a media news outlet for digital cultural transformation, CfDS is distinguished by its authoritative position in publishing opinion pieces on the societal impact of new digital technologies. The team exuded competence, refinement, and sophistication, reflecting a well-established and high-quality work environment. 

Future collaboration opportunities were identified, suggesting joint ventures to share in-house knowledge about digital culture and transformation, utilizing CfDS as a platform for our VPs to speak on relevant topics, exchanging professional networks, and potentially recruiting talent from CfDS due to their strong culture and proven competency in online marketing.

Discussions about potential collaborations with the Career Development Center emphasized the mutual benefits of partnerships in fostering professional development.

The meeting with Economic and Business UGM, especially with Dian Asmara Djati, included discussions about adding elements to the MOU, such as business or marketing plan competitions. Emphasis was placed on promoting these contests free of charge and aligning with student clubs to incentivize the best talent.

Innovative Academy UGM

The day of February 2nd concluded with discussions with Denny Wijayanto as Head of Innovative Academy of UGM, at 6 pm. The meeting is about potential collaborations with Innovative Academy, focusing on hosting hackathons or programming competitions to discover talent.

OmahTI of UGM

In a recent meeting with the OmahTI club of UGM on February 3rd, Mr. Jing expressed his enthusiasm for the interaction, noting that the discussion was both intimate and fruitful. Recognizing the value of maintaining a close relationship with this tech-oriented group, Mr. Jing proposed a thoughtful initiative – sponsoring the food for their upcoming open recruitment event, a platform where the club welcomes new members. This gesture not only supports the club’s activities but also fosters a collaborative spirit between Bukit Vista and OmahTI. 

During the conversation, it became evident that the club members are keen on understanding the big picture within the tech industry, and they are particularly interested in securing internships at Bukit Vista. Mr. Jing’s engagement with OmahTI reflects a commitment to nurturing connections with local tech communities and providing valuable opportunities for aspiring individuals within the field

In those meetings, Mr. Jing elaborated on Bukit Vista and the potential for collaboration between Bukit Vista and UGM. He not only highlighted the achievements at Bukit Vista, such as feedback management and the optimization of GAIA AI in hospitality, designed with a comprehensive data and information management system, but also showcased the remote working culture using Discord as a virtual office. Moreover, Mr. Jing personally demonstrated the workings of Bukit Vista through meetings conducted via Discord and Coda, emphasizing the importance of educational partnerships and technological integration in shaping the future of the hospitality industry.

Meetings with esteemed faculty members, including Pak Ardian from Psychology and representatives from the Creative Sub-Directorial, Mathematics Department, and Tourism Bachelor Program, have laid the groundwork for a symbiotic relationship.
